As a kid, I’d be glued to the TV screen for hours every Saturday morning, watching all of my childhood superhero shows…..GI Joes, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Silverhawks, and Thundercats were among the bunch. Immediately after my dose of on-screen entertainment, my brothers and I would pull out our toy bin and prepare for a playful yet strategic battle between our plastic companions. We would take careful time setting up our fortresses to ensure our teams were safe from attack, equip our figures with their necessary weaponry and ammunition, and begin the battle. Continue reading

A Simple Life on Pamilacan Island

The small island of Pamilacan is a province in Bohol, Visayas archipelagos in the Philippines. Its name comes from the word “Pilak,” which is a large hooked implement made and used by fishermen to capture whale sharks and manta rays. It is only 8 miles from the famous Alona Beach in Bohol. It’s virgin white sandy beaches, mini coves, and solitude of being in your own island paradise makes this island feel like a permanent home. The island is famous for dolphin watching and diving. Its 140 hectares has a population of only 200 families. Our planned trip to visit this island was non other than relaxing and informative. Continue reading

4 months have past since we’ve embarked on our journey around the Philippines and to a few countries in Southeast Asia. We had a rough start in the beginning and lost a month of our trip due to the mass flash flooding of Typhoon Ondoy, but hopefully one day we will return to the Philippines once again to continue our journey through.
